Welcome to Relays

Pick a tag when you open a discussion

  • question — setup, tuning, choosing software.
  • report — something you observed on a relay you run: abuse patterns, performance findings, outages. These are gold for everyone else.
  • proposal — ideas about how relays should behave or coordinate.
  • release — relay software you maintain shipped a new version.

House style

  • Name the software in the title, for example strfry: WebSocket drops behind nginx after 60s.
  • Bring numbers. Software version, host size, rough traffic. Advice without them is guesswork dressed up as experience.
  • Config snippets go in code blocks. Strip secrets and internal hostnames first; future you will be grateful.
  • New public relay? Announce it. Say what it stores, who can write, and how long things stay.
  • Found a bug in relay software? Discuss it here by all means, but file it upstream too and link the issue. The fix happens there.

New here? Welcome, operator. Running a relay is one of the most useful things you can do for Nostr, and one of the least glamorous. Introduce your relay below and tell us what keeps you up at night.
